FIBROIDS at Aletris Center in Scottsdale, AZ
A fibroid is a tumor, usually benign, that is found in the wall of the uterus. While the ultimate cause of fibroids is unknown, there are several hypotheses as to why they develop:
Increased amounts of xenoestrogens in the diet, which are processed ultimately by the liver;
Increased estrogen and progesterone, which stimulate fibroid growth; and
An imbalance in the estrogen to progesterone ratio.
In conjuncion with other naturopathic treatments, bioidentical hormone therapy is often effective in shrinking fibroids.
