hCG WEIGHT LOSS THERAPY at ALETRIS Center in Scottsdale, AZ
Medical Weight Loss with hCG
At ALETRIS, our discovery of weight loss with the hormone hCG began with our patients. They were undergoing the treatment at other locations and wanted our support as their primary care physicians. We saw some of them do very well with the hCG protocol, while others had lackluster results. We then began to see that overall health really made a difference in pounds lost. Those that began the program with hormone imbalance, a thyroid disorder, low grade infections, and liver issues did not do as well as those who were closer to optimal health.
Currently, we prescribe the hCG weight loss program to a limited number of patients. Our goal, in those that are not already our patients, is to do an extensive intake and accurately determine an individual's potential ability to lose weight with this protocol. We require bloodwork, hormone testing, and thyroid evaluation as well as a naturopathic intake before beginning treatment.
For those that are in good health, the program works just as promised; between 0.6-2.0 pounds is lost per day on hCG injections and the low calorie diet. At ALETRIS, we are focused on providing our patients with realistic interpretations of their labwork and a general prediction of how they will do. ALETRIS Center is not a weight loss clinic, and the relationship that we forge with each patient is based on accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and naturopathic principles.
When should hCG be used to lose weight?
Dr. Simeons, the founder of the hCG protocol, noted that using hCG for weight loss was particularly effective for those who had tried many other methods and failed. He viewed fat as depositing in one of three ways on the body. The first type of fat deposition is that which covers organs – such as the kidneys – and is used as protection.
The second type of fat deposition is a normal reserve of fuel from which the body can freely draw. Normal reserves are localized all over the body and evenly distributed under the skin. Fat is the substance which packs the highest caloric punch into the smallest space so that normal reserves of fuel for muscle activity and the maintenance of body temperature can be most economically stored. Both these types of fat, structural and reserve, are normal, noted Dr. Simeons.
Dr. Simeons noted, however, there was a third type of fat deposition that was aberrant. This abnormal reserve of fuel is not able to be drawn upon for energy, and thus stays on the body – even if weight loss is attempted via many methods. These “toxic” fat stores were the study of Dr. Simeons, as he discovered that hCG mobilized them freely when no other methods were effective.
From a naturopathic perspective, we believe that there may be an underlying reason these fat stores are unable to be mobilized. Two possibilities would include a nutrient deficiency or environmental toxicity – such as a heavy metal or other chemical toxicity - that would “jam” the enzymes responsible for mobilizing these fat stores into available calories. hCG, however, is effective at mobilizing these stores quickly and efficiently, and thus, the ideal candidate is someone who canno easily lose weight through dieting and exercise. For these individuals, the hCG program can be a lifesaver.
How was the hCG protocol developed?
Discovered in the 1950's, the hCG protocol was pioneered exclusively by A. T. W. Simeons, MD. Dr. Simeons first noted how women who were pregnant and eating very low calorie diets were able to mobilize their existing fat stores and deliver healthy, normal weight babies. He wondered if this same effect would be produceable in non-pregnant individuals using HCG. Over the next three decades, Dr. Simeons devoted his life to perfecting the HCG protocol.
hCG, human chorionic gonadatropin, is found in pregnant women but has been used for many years for treating infertility and endocrine imbalance in both men and women. According to the protocol, hCG mobilizes fat stores that the patient then uses as their daily caloric intake, while eating a very low calorie diet. Patients should feel little hunger and lose between 0.6 and 2.0 pounds a day while injecting.
The use of hCG for medical weight loss has not been approved by the FDA. The use of hCG for weight loss is considered to be “off-label.”
