Anxiety is characterized by both physiologic manifestations and psychological symptoms. These symptoms often combine and create a negative state that is felt as panic, fear, or worry. Physical symptoms can include chest pain, heart palpitations, insomnia, shortness of breath, sweating, shakiness, stomach pain, bowel changes, high blood pressure, nausea, and headaches. Psychological symptoms can include feelings of dread, restlessness, irritability, impatience, worrying, and expecting the worst outcome.
At ALETRIS, patients will go through a series of tests to rule out any organic cause of anxiety such as heavy metal toxicity, neurotransmitter or hormone imbalance, or a thyroid disorder. If these are found, they will be treated. Other treatments may include specific dietary and exercise recommendations, injectable vitamins, homeopathics, or herbal medicines.
