The thyroid is a major gland located at the front of the neck adjacent to the trachea. The gland’s major thyroid hormones, T4 and T3, are responsible for controlling almost every aspect of metabolism. Thyroid nodules are often found on an ultrasound of the thyroid or on routine physical exam. A nodule can be solid or fluid-filled, and treatment depends on the type of nodule discovered and the underlying condition that created it.
Five percent of nodules are malignant, or cancerous, and need to be monitored closely. The most common cause of a thyroid nodule, however, is Hashimoto’s disease, which is an autoimmune disease effectively treated with naturopathic and alternative medicine.
Because ALETRIS naturopaths treat the cause of thyroid nodule growth, most patients experience a halt in nodule growth, and some nodules may even shrink. Our patients are almost always able to avoid unnecessary surgery.
ALETRIS physicians investigate the specific cause of each individual’s thyroid nodule growth and customize appropriate treatment for each patient. Call our office to schedule an appointment with an ALETRIS physician.
